So the verdict is in on what the Saturn needs for a safety...
$1600 of work quoted
... thanks new Ontario safety standards. Needs front and rear brakes (pads, rotors, drums), brake lines, 2 front tires, a muffler and defog the front lights.
I’ve already started compiling parts and I’m going to learn how to most of the work myself (benefits of having a father and father-in-law that have done this lots before).
On the plus side, my father-in-law took me to a parking lot to get a feel for the the clutch, then I drove it home! I only spun the tires once on a hill on the way home :)

If it is anything like my Mini you will chirp the tires trying to start on a hill a lot. I still do it occasionally.

Defog the lights? Those don’t look that bad

Probably and the throttle pedal sticks ever so slightly so it’s kinda hard to modulate the throttle; I’ll get it with time I’m sure

The passenger side is pretty bad. I’m pretty sure the car hasn’t been washed in years, so I’ll be doing a full detail regardless.

WD-40 can also help with that problem.

That’s what I was thinking, it’ll either work great or make for a very slippery gas pedal lol.

Where in Ontario are you from? That area looks really familiar to me for some reason.

Right on! I like the area.
